Export Restrictions on U.S. Animal Products for Human Consumption
APHIS’ primary role in certifying animal products for export is to attest to the animal health status of the U.S. State or region where the product originates. When an area is affected by certain animal diseases, trading partners may place export restrictions on products that are processed or shipped from facilities located in the affected U.S. State or region.
The following pages consolidate these country-specific export restrictions in one place. To view other restrictions for U.S.-origin animal products for human consumption, visit the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service's Import & Export Library.
Look Up Export Restrictions
If a country is not listed in the dropdown, the country has not reported any restrictions. In such cases, exporters should ask their importer or buyer in the destination country to contact the appropriate Ministry of Animal Health (or equivalent authority) to confirm the eligibility of their products before shipping.
Users must open the map files on the country pages to view the affected area when applicable. For more tips on how to navigate this site, watch the demo video .
