APHIS Releases FY 2027 Plant Protection Act Section 7721 Implementation Plan
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announces the release of the FY 2027 PPA 7721 Implementation Plan, the agency’s annual strategic roadmap guiding plant health safeguarding priorities and funding direction for FY 2027.
The Implementation Plan outlines priority areas where APHIS will seek project suggestions for both the Plant Pest and Disease Management and Disaster Prevention Program (PPDMDPP) and the National Clean Plant Network (NCPN). APHIS will announce the FY 2027 open period for submitting project suggestions in the coming weeks.
Plant Pest and Disease Management and Disaster Prevention Program
The plan identifies six strategic goal areas for PPDMDPP projects, including enhanced pest analysis and survey, strengthened inspections, advanced diagnostics and technology, nursery production safeguards, targeted outreach and education, and rapid response capabilities. More information, including project submission templates, training materials, help session schedules, and frequently asked questions, is available at www.aphis.usda.gov/funding/ppdmdpp.
National Clean Plant Network
The plan also outlines priorities for NCPN projects, supporting the introduction, diagnosis, treatment, and distribution of clean plant materials for specialty crops such as berries, citrus, fruit trees, grapes, hops, roses, and sweet potatoes. More information about NCPN is available at www.aphis.usda.gov/funding/ncpn.
